COIN / XYO App Rewards Have Dropped After Recent Updates

If you're a long-time user of the COIN app (powered by the XYO Network), you've likely noticed your daily earnings shrinking. What once felt like a solid side hustle for sharing location data through geomining now delivers noticeably lower rewards. Recent updates have prioritized network sustainability, premium features, and data quality — but at the cost of reduced payouts for many users.

The Shift: From Easy Earnings to a Premium-Heavy Model

The COIN app lets users earn COIN tokens (redeemable for XYO and other rewards) by validating geospatial data while moving around. Early versions rewarded casual geomining generously. However, as the user base grew to millions and the network matured into a full DePIN (Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Network) project, the team introduced changes to manage supply, encourage higher-quality contributions, and boost revenue through subscriptions.

Key impacts from recent updates (including 2025–2026 enhancements):

  • Remines Kill Rewards: Fresh tiles (unmined recently) offer full bonuses. Remines (gray tiles) now pay the absolute minimum — often just 0.01 COIN (or 0.001 in some regions) with no boosts from subscriptions, SentinelX devices, Home Base, or Team Lift. Higher user density means more remines, slashing effective earnings.

  • Nerfed Bonuses and "Shrinkflation": Community reports (especially on Reddit) highlight repeated reductions in weekly Bonus Drops, physical exercise incentives (e.g., down to 1 per day in some cases), and other multipliers. Premium plans still multiply rewards significantly, but base/free earnings feel diluted.

  • Background and Passive Rewards Downgraded: Background collection (3–9 hours depending on plan) pays less than active foreground geomining. Updates made these even more variable and lower-yield to prioritize active, high-quality data.

  • Premium Push:

    • Basic (Free): 1x rewards, limited speed/recharge, fewer Big Geomines.
    • Plus ($24.95/mo): Up to 24x geomining, 2x speed, better drops.
    • Pro ($34.95/mo): Up to 36x, 3x speed, extra boosts across tasks, ads, and more.

SentinelX devices (BLE/NFC) still help but deliver smaller relative boosts for premium users.

These changes align with XYO's evolution toward verifiable, AI-ready data layers, but they frustrate users expecting consistent passive income.
